A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I work for a Christian non-profit called the Association for a More Just Society (AJS) that works against violence and corruption in Honduras. I work as the Director of Programs, meaning I plan US programming and also fundraise across North America to raise support for this work. I also have an 11 year old dog that my husband and I enjoy spending time with!

2. Why do you make art?

My work focuses on drawing, painting, and collage, and I enjoy finding beauty in the everyday ordinary. I believe art is a platform that can be used to tell a bigger story, challenge everyday thinking, and effect change. When something is on my heart, the artist inside of me screams with ideas until I have found a way to visually portray it to others - it's a sort of artist obligation that I have. I believe art and the story it tells should be beautiful, respectful, and challenging.

3. What inspires you?

I am inspired by big topics or themes or histories that move me so much that I must create about them.

4. What/who are your influences?

I am very influenced by nature, but also stories. I believe a good story can be told best through art.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Michelle Obama. An inspirational, powerful woman!
